Shepard's Pie

This Shepard's Pie was done up in Dec last year (2010).
I don't cook very often but this one's fun! (:
This projects costs about $15 and it takes about an hour to prepare.

As this blog post was previously cranky, here's a repost. (:

Shepard's Pie Recipe
Ingredients
Potato layer
6 potatoes
Butter

Meat layer
500g meat of choice (I had 250g pork, 250g chicken)
2 tomatoes
1 onion (big)
3 carrots

Salt
Tomato Sauce
Chilli Sauce
Pepper
Soy Sauce

Shredded Cheese

Steps:

Peel and cut up potatoes and soak them in water till you need em.

Peel and dice up carrots too!
I used a lil' hot water to blanch them prior to adding them in the frying process.

Boil the potatoes till they're soft.
Probably bout 15 mins on high heat.

Mash up the potatoes in a tub cos' it's easier.
Add in some butter and salt (:

Season the chicken with tomato sauce, chili sauce, pepper and soy sauce.

Do the same for the pork, depending on which meat you prefer.

Clean some tomatoes and clean the seeds + mush.
Dice it! (:

Chop up some onions too! (:

Diced tomatoes! (:

Stir fried chicken! (:

Heat up the pan.
Add some oil.
When oil is hot, add the onions.
Stir fry for a while.
Add in the carrots and stir fry a lil' more.
Add in the meat. (:

DO NOTcook it throughly cos' baking's still required!

Sprinkle some tomatoes into lil' aluminium trays! (:
I need to buy some RAMKINS! (:

Beautiful colors! (:

Pork version.

Cover with mashed potatoes. (:

Sprinkle loads of cheese! (:

Bake for 15 mins at 250degrees! (:

YUMS!

This project is pretty much based on trial and error, my ingredients vary with each time I prepare this. This project was done with aluminium foil 'trays' but the next time I bake this, I'm gonna get ramekins!

These should be done miniature style cos' it's quite filling.
Love shepard pies anyway!

I'd love to see the bakes or stuff you've cooked using the blog's recipe! Do share photos of stuff you've baked or cooked using the blog's recipe with me either via FB message to http://facebook.com/limcynthia OR http://facebook.com/thebakingbiatch OR via email at cynthia.lim.hl@gmail.com! 1. Hi Cynthia, I just discovered your blog. Good stuff!!

Just wanna make a little comment, this is a cottage pie. A shepard's pie uses mutton. Pie with any other meat is called a cottage pie. Think about it, a shepard shepards lamb, not chicken, cow or pig.

Other than that I really love your blog. Keep up the good work!!
